About the winemaker
Damien Bonnet took over the family farm in 2008, and was the first generation to make his own wine. The estate is situated 15 minutes from Cordes Sur Ciel, between Albi and Gaillac, and the views stop you in your steps. The vines are surrounded by oak forests, which bring animals, insects and plants that are essential for soil life. The land also benefits from crop rotation. Damien grows lentils, chickpeas, linen, lucerne, barley, wheat and sunflowers. The grape harvests are manual, the vinifications natural and the wines are matured in all sorts of different vessels: clay amphores, sandstone jars, steel tanks and large wooden foudres. There’s no preset recipe at Domaine de Brin, but all the wines are fresh, balanced, elegant and precise. Damien’s secret? “I listen and let nature express itself while taking good care of it. You have to be vigilant. I’ve learned to act at the right time and play on different balances.”
