Xingolei
Natural finesse, juicy and generous. Vibrant black and red berries, powdery tannins and a fresh finish. A superb interpretation of Irouleguy that bottles the beauty and energy of the terroir. Love the Basque country? You'll love the wines of Bixente Indart at Domaine Goienetxta !
Tannat and Cabernet Franc from the red sandstone soils of Irouleguy, matured in a range of different vessels including barrels, a Stockinger foudre and a dolia (amphora-shaped concrete tank).
Decant for at least 1 hour before drinking. Serve with a rack of lamb or a Mediterranean grill. Yum.

About the winemaker
The Goienetxea estate in Saint Etienne de Baigorry on the slopes of the beautiful Basque country is above all a farm, with wine as part of its production. The vineyards were planted in 1987 by Pantxo Indart: black grapes (Tannat and Cabernet Franc) on triassic red sandstone and white grapes (Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng) on ophite and limestone. For over 30 years, the grapes were sold to several producers in the Irouléguy appellation. After training with winemakers including Catherine Dupuy (Madiran), the Arena family (Patrimonio) and Domaine Arretxea (Irouléguy), young Bixente Indart took over the family business. He made his first wines in 2021 to much acclaim. Bixente says he’s not doing anything differently to his grandfather. The vines have been farmed organically since 2002. In the winery, vinification is carried out without the use of inputs, using indigenous yeasts. Aging is carried out in a variety of containers (stockinger foudre, barrels, concrete vats and amphora) in a constant quest for balance and finesse. Added sulfites do not exceed 20 mg/litre. I had to go and meet this man and see his place!
